The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Soft/FX 1 Filter is designed to create a controlled yet clearly visible soft-focus effect for portrait, cinema and video applications. Its diffusion pattern helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, blemishes and skin texture while maintaining the overall definition of the image.

An array of small optical elements distributed across the filter surface gently smooths fine detail without completely sacrificing sharpness. This makes the Soft/FX 1 useful for creating more flattering portraits and a softer cinematic character while preserving important image structure.

With a grade of 1, this version provides a stronger effect than the Soft/FX 1/2 model. Higher Soft/FX grades progressively increase the level of diffusion and can introduce more visible halation around highlights, allowing cinematographers to select the intensity that best suits the desired look.

The filter is constructed from 4mm-thick optical glass and manufactured using Tiffen's ColorCore technology for consistent optical performance in professional production environments.
