The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Soft/FX 1/2 Filter is designed for cinematographers and photographers who want a subtle soft-focus effect without significantly reducing perceived image sharpness. It gently smooths fine lines, skin texture and minor imperfections while preserving a clean and natural overall image.

Small optical elements distributed across the filter surface selectively soften fine detail, making the grade 1/2 version particularly useful for portraits, beauty work and cinematic applications where only moderate diffusion is desired.

As a grade 1/2 filter, its effect is lighter than the Soft/FX 1 model, allowing more texture and definition to remain visible. Higher Soft/FX grades progressively increase diffusion strength and can produce more noticeable halation around highlights.

The filter uses 4mm-thick optical glass and Tiffen's ColorCore technology to maintain consistent optical characteristics for professional studio and location production.
